Incontinence may be a result of bladder dysfunction (Urge incontinence), sphincter dysfunction (Stress incontinence), or a combination of both.
Stress incontinence occurs when urine leaks out at times when the bladder is under pressure; for example, during coughing or laughing, while urge (urgency) incontinence occurs when urine leaks after feeling a sudden, intense urge to pee, or soon afterwards.
